MEDEL GALLERY SHU HIBIYAでは、2025年9月12日より9月30日まで、藤崎了一の個展”Dimensional Sculpture”を開催いたします。
藤崎了一は、素材の物理的痕跡と身体的行為を媒介に、彫刻の新たな地平を探求してきました。本展「Dimensional Sculpture」では、代表的な二つのシリーズを中心に構成しています。
その一つ「SCAN」シリーズは、カッティングシート裏面に偶発的に付着した痕跡を画面化し、素材の「負の側面」に潜む美を顕在化させる試みです。そこには、選択したフォルムが立ち現れる瞬間と消失する境界が記録され、物質と空間の拮抗が平面として定着しています。
一方、「Meltism」シリーズは、発泡体を熱線で溶解させる運動の軌跡をそのまま造形に転化し、身体行為が彫刻的フォルムへと変換されるプロセスを示しています。
両者に通底するのは、物質の必然と偶然が交錯する生成のダイナミズムである。本展は、痕跡と運動、負と正の関係性を横断しながら、彫刻の次元を問い直す場です。
彫刻は多次元的な広がりがあります。平面的、立体的、時間的、空間的要素が結びつくことで、一つの世界が立ち上がるのです。
視覚的には、平面の総体を脳内で立体的に組み立てながら鑑賞しますが、素材そのものを突き抜けて「真っ直ぐに」裏側を見ることはできません。
今回の展示は立体作品を二次元的なアプローチから捉え直すものです。

MEDEL GALLERY SHU HIBIYA is pleased to present Dimensional Sculpture, a solo exhibition by Ryoichi Fujisaki, running from September 12 to September 30, 2025.
Ryoichi Fujisaki has long explored new horizons of sculpture by mediating between the physical traces of materials and the bodily acts that shape them. Dimensional Sculpture brings together two of his representative series.
The “SCAN” series visualizes the accidental marks that adhere to the reverse side of cutting sheets, an attempt to reveal the beauty hidden within the “negative aspects” of the material. These works capture the threshold where chosen forms emerge and vanish, fixing the tension between matter and space onto a plane.
The “Meltism” series transforms the trajectories of polystyrene foam as it dissolves under a heated wire into sculptural form, demonstrating the process by which bodily action is translated into sculptural expression.
Underlying both series is the dynamism of creation, where necessity and chance intersect within matter. This exhibition explores the interplay of traces and motion, negative and positive, to reexamine the very dimensions of sculpture.
Sculpture expands across multiple dimensions—plane, volume, time, and space intertwine to form a world of their own. While we perceive surfaces and mentally reconstruct them into volume, we can never truly “see straight through” to the other side of the material itself. This exhibition reconsiders three-dimensional work from a two-dimensional perspective.

藤崎了一｜RYOICHI FUJISAKI
その「素材そのもののありよう」を表す彫刻の特徴を、平面に表現した《SCAN》作品。
ニクロム線で自由に発泡スチロールをカットする際の三次曲面が、偶然の組み合わせでつくられる立体作品のGeometric Nodes（Meltism）。
これらの偶有性から作り出させる造形は、自然の風景が様々な条件、状況の中でそれぞれが個々別々に形作られているにもかかわらず、１つの荘厳な景色、造形として感じ受けることができる感覚を呼び起こす。そうやって見る造形の捉え方ができる「形」を自ら生み出せないだろうかというのが私の試みである。
